Hello! It’s Ally and I’m back! In black! (Don’t know where that came from- I am so sorry, but at least I’m enthusiastic, right? Right?) Today I thought I’d do something a bit different and so here is a list of my top ten favourite movies! It’s not often that I get a chance to recommend awesome and incredible movies on a book blog. If any of you can guess  what movies i’ll be including, firstly, kudos to you and secondly, you know me super well! Make sure to tell me below in the comments if you guess correctly!

So, counting down, we’ll start at Number Ten! This movie has been a personal favourite of mine since I first watched it with my cousins, so of course it has to be on this list!

Ally’s Blurb: Treasure hunters steal a bunch of stuff and go on the run.

Extra comment: If you like action, heists and books like Six of Crows, you will love, love, love this movie!

NINE!!! For Number nine… well, it isn’t really a movie-It was actually a Christmas special for my favourite tv show and a prequel to the fourth season (showing now! WATCH IT!!!!). And it is… Sherlock: The Abominable Bride! Sorry, not sorry. (Fun game: Try and say “Abominable” five times in a row.)

Ally’s Blurb: Sherlock Holmes and John Watson combine forces in the 18th century to solve a crime about a woman who just won’t stay dead. If that doesn’t entice you, well, it’s Benedict Cumberbatch (Star Trek, Dr. Strange, The Imitation Game+ forty others) and Martin Freeman (The Hobbit, Captain America: Civil War, The Office, Love Actually and others that I haven’t watched either…) two of the greatest actors ever. So… watch it. What are you still doing reading this post? Go watch Sherlock!

EIGHT!!! If you guessed I would have a Harry Potter movie on this list, well, give yourself a pat on the back! (I feel like that is an extremely childish action, but oh well.) Coming in at number eight is Harry Potter And The Half-blood Prince!

Ally’s Blurb: Voldemort 101.

Extra Comment: If you like Harry Potter, you may like this movie. No guarantees.

SEVEN!!!!  In my opinion, Marvel is one of the greatest film companies of all time with their music, sound, actors and the logo, so of course I had to have a marvel movie on this list! (Other notable mentions from Marvel would also be Captain America: The First Solider and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.)

Ally’s Blurb: A scientist, billionaire, god, Assassin, sharp shooter and time travelling soldier team up to shoot bad guys. Things get broken.

Extra Comment: Love books like Throne of Glass and epic fantasy novels? This movie is definitely for you!

Number six- A childhood classic:

Ally’s Blurb: Meet Elle Woods. She has an adorable puppy and a law degree. What more could you want from life?

5. PERCY JACKSON AND THE- Joking, I’m joking. Okay, coming in at number ten is a movie I watched roughly around age eleven and I have loved it ever since. And it is…. The Mummy! A remake of the old film is coming in 2017, so watch out for it! (Nothing will be as good as the original though)

EDIT: Reviews for the remake have come in. Apparently, I was right. Nothing is as good as the original.

5.(For Real). THE MUMMY!!!!

Ally Blurb: A librarian and a treasure hunter accidentally wake up an ancient mummy, and boyyyyyyyyy is he cranky!

Extra Comment:  I can’t tell you how much I love this movie. The witty banter and dialogue is fantastic and the actions scenes are amazing. Honestly, just watch it. Don’t read anymore reviews and just pick it up on Itunes.

FOUR!! The movie that gives animals the ability to talk and yet still has the most amazing messages about race and diversity- ZOOTOPIA!

Ally’s Blurb: A bunny wants to be a cop in a world of foxes. And there is kidnapping and other police things too! If you think this is just for little kids, then you are sorely mistaken.

THREE!!!! Pirates, lords, ships, hot guys and magic- what more could you want? Number three is…

Ally’s Blurb: Stealing things from Pirates isn’t generally a good idea…

Extra Comment: Love Throne of Glass, Six of Crows, Illuminae or other epic books? Then you will one hundred percent love this movie as well!

TWO!!! The movie that empowered women all over the world; Hidden Figures!

Ally’s Blurb: Three women don’t wait around for men to get things done.

ONE!!! This movie may have come out recently but it’s already pinged right to my number one, and that is……

Ally’s Blurb: I can’t even sum up how awesome this movie is. Just go watch it 😀

Thank you all for reading and I’ll see you next time! Please leave a few comments down below about what your favourite movies are! I’d love to get a few recommendations!

  1. As I went down, I kept looking for Wonder Woman. I saw number 2 was Hidden Figures and I’m like ‘OK, please, PLEASE let number one be a really awesome movie cause no one, NO ONE, underrates HF.’
Then I saw Wonder Woman so then I was like, of course, Ally, of course.
