Synopsis:

Emily has been friends with Adriana since she could remember but when Adriana’s mother dies, her father accepts a job in Borneo- thousands of miles away from Emily. The two best friends stay in touch for 18months- and then Adriana announces she’s coming home. The two girls are ecstatic for things to go back to the way they used to be, but one thing has changed. Over the months she was away, Adriana had transformed into a goddess. Suddenly the girls who used to hate her want to be her best friend and boys who used to tease her want to date her. Meanwhile, Emily has always dreamed of meeting the perfect boy but never thought it would happen in this life, but then she meets Theo. He’s the guy she always wanted- cute, funny and passionate about art the way she is. But what Emily doesn’t know is that Adriana has her sights on the same boy. Two girls crushing on one very cute guy- someone is going to get their heart broken.

(Why is there a weird guy with a gun being pointed at him, you may ask. Well, folks, that is, in fact, a reference to my newly found love for SHERLOCK. Has anyone watched it? Thoughts?)

My Thoughts:

Looking for a meaningful funny read for the holidays? Then look no further! (And suddenly this turned into an infomercial) My Best Friend Is A Goddess may have a slightly fluffy title/cover but DO NOT LET THAT FOOL YOU! Yes, the book still had a funny and cutesy but it was also able to deliver some pretty powerful messages. Some issues the book covers are grief, parenting, bullying, anxiety, self-esteem, romantic relationships, and friendships. In particular, I loved the way the book handled the friendship relations and My Best Friend Is A Goddess managed to introduce some new concepts to me that I hadn’t considered before. I must admit, however, that I nearly gave up on the book initially as the beginning is quite slow and in diary format which took me quite some time to get used to. Whilst I’m discussing the negatives, I might as well mention that whilst it does cover a range of issues (I don’t like using that word- any suggestions?), I found there was a huge section of important emotions from the characters that weren’t touched on; particularly towards the end. My Best Friend Is A Goddess has a substantial and satisfying ending, but a novella would be nice (PLEASE!).

I can’t say much more for fear of spoilers (Nooooooooooooo NOT THE SPOILERS :D) but overall, I  liked My Best Friend Is A Goddess and I recommend reading it if you love books like  Since You’ve Been Gone and Anna And The French Kiss. For its humour and good messages(mostly good messages), I award (ANNDDDDDDDDDD… THE OSCAR GOES TO….. ……..not Leonardo DiCaprio.Bad joke. Sorry…) My Best Friend Is A Goddess four stars and an 85%! In terms of age recommendation, there are sexual references, kissing and severe bullying: 13/14+

Happy Reading!!!

          1. Ok, I love this show to bits, and here’s this:
So basically Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss haven’t denied a fifth season, but they also haven’t confirmed it. It’s basically a ‘if the let us make it we’ll definitely do more and we’ll be spectacular as always’ kinda thing. And who wants more Moriarty licking things?! (Just think about what he does before you think I’m nuts. He licks a lot of things)
And that’s my totally unrelated rant on something not even related to this because Ally, have hope!
