Hello readers! It is Laurena here!
Sorry we have been absent, we had a Science assessment due (on my birthday!), and English assessment due on the last Wednesday of term, a Geography test to study for, an Art assessment to prepare, a Technology assessment… You get the drift! Too much schoolwork…
But, as it is almost holidays, we will post more frequently!
I have been buying/ borrowing far too many books in the past month! And I shoved them aside because I got my hands on a copy of Empire of Storms. So, my TBR pile has been slowly creeping up on me!
I thought that I should record them here along with a couple of tips to help shrink that pile down…
So, without further ado, my TBR list!

And of course, the tips!
- Resist the urge. Don’t add two books to every one you read. Control your emotions- it is hard.
- Learn to speed read. It helps. If you want to finish the book quickly, speed read. It is simple to learn.
- Read more. Duh. Reading= smaller TBR pile.
- Read multiple books at a time. Don’t get bored of that book you have been reading for a week but can’t get past that first page. I did this with Empire of Storms. I got spoiled *Glares at offending (soon to be dead) friend* so I put it down. I picked it up a week later and continued. Finished it that night as well!
- Carry at least one book with you at all times so you can read when you have those spare moments. *Whispers* I carry three. It helps. (Sort of!)
- Be picky. Be merciless. Don’t bother keeping a book in the pile if you aren’t going to read it. Realise this. Your TBR is not just for show.
- Randomise your reading order. This helps when you are not sure what to read. Spin around and point to a random book. Read that random book.
- Put aside an hour to read. Not many people actually set a time to read. Put a block of time into your schedule. You will slim the pile down in no time!
- STOP BUYING! Ooops! I actually just bought Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake today. Plus one to the pile.
- Take a break! No one wants to read, and read and read, and then, just to switch it up, you read some more. NO! Read a magazine, watch TV, go outside. Then, pick up the book and start reading.
- Change the setting. Change where you read. I read in my room or on the couch most of the time. I rarely read outside or in a cafe. But try reading somewhere else and you will find that it is a welcome change from all the monotony.
The fact of the matter is, we all fail at this.
We all break one of our book rules at least once. As long as you don’t do it too often, you’ll be fine!
I loved your tips!!!!! They save lives!!!😂😂

This is all true! I see you got down to 28 books…. My physical TBR is about 50, and my Goodreads TBR is around 660…. I think I’m a lost cause! XD

Hahahahahaha thanks (I think)! I’m trying to cut down, but I’ve had longer to accumulate, and of course Goodreads makes it so easy…. Whoops?
