Hi, it’s Melia, Laurena and Ally. (You know the drill!) But we have decided to create a book club!
We are pretty hell-bent on doing City of Bones by Cassandra Clare… so if you like the sound of the blurb, (at the bottom of the post) please consider reading the book and joining the club. (There will be discussion starters!) If you will be joining us for the book discussion, please let us know in the comments.
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?
This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know…
If the blurb intrigues you, please join the club. We will supply you with a legal PDF so if you don’t own the book, you can still have fun. If you have already got the book, don’t bother with the PDF. If you have a library near by, you can also try and get your hands on it there.
The way we are going to do this is as follows: we will decide on a book for the month and we will post it on the first day of the month along with a legal PDF. We will post one, two or three discussion question per week and the readers can answer that question or start a discussion, at any time. When the month is up, one of us will write a review and post the best answer to the discussion question of the day. If a discussion question has not been answered, we will put ‘Day …’ and write ‘no comment.’
We hope you will join the club and input your own valuable insights through the comments section. We will post the PDF and discussion starters on the first of May.
