Book Review: Lady Midnight

General Information:

Pages: 720

Genre: Fantasy/ Romance

Publisher: McElderry Books

Series: Dark Artifices

Synopsis: Contains Spoiler’s from City of Heavenly Fire Emma and Julian are Parabatai, best friends and also in love with each other. Parabatai are forbidden from loving each other, as it would deem unnatural. However, when a deadly plot unravels before the Blackthorns and Emma, they are forced to put their feeling behind them and focus on reality. However, their feelings are strong and their passion grows, and it becomes harder and harder to conceal them. The plot that I mentioned earlier is a murder plot, where bodies are being found, all of them dead the same way Emma’s parents died.

The Blurb: It’s been five years since the events of City of Heavenly Fire that brought the Shadowhunters to the brink of oblivion. Emma Carstairs is no longer a child in mourning, but a young woman bent on discovering what killed her parents and avenging her losses.

Together with her parabatai Julian Blackthorn, Emma must learn to trust her head and her heart as she investigates a demonic plot that stretches across Los Angeles, from the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica. If only her heart didn’t lead her in treacherous directions…

Making things even more complicated, Julian’s brother Mark—who was captured by the faeries five years ago—has been returned as a bargaining chip. The faeries are desperate to find out who is murdering their kind—and they need the Shadowhunters’ help to do it. But time works differently in faerie, so Mark has barely aged and doesn’t recognize his family. Can he ever truly return to them? Will the faeries really allow it?

My Thoughts: Arg! When is the next book coming out? I would have liked more Jace and Clary in this book… And the dreaded cliffhanger! I honestly wouldn’t change a thing when talking about Lady Midnight (except more Clary and Jace please!), the character’s were developed well, the setting was embellished to the max, the evil people were, well, evil. Who could ask for more?

I could! More Clary and Jace please!

All up, I adored this book, and I can’t wait for Lord of Shadows and Queen of Air and Darkness!
