Book Review: All Fall Down

General Information:

Pages: 306

Genre: Mystery and Action, YA

Publisher: Scholastic Australia

Series: Embassy Row

For those who love a good mystery and action book this is the one for you! I loved the fast paced action and the way the characters really spoke for themselves. ‘All Fall Down’ is the first book in the award winning series, Embassy Row. Ally Cater has written many great books including the ‘Gallagher Girls’ which is about a girl’s school for spies. Her second series, Heist Society, debuts a teen world class thief who has to pull of a number of heists to protect her family.

The blurb is as follows:

Grace Blakely is absolutely certain of three things:
1. She is not crazy.
2. Her mother was murdered.
3. Someday she is going to find the killer and make him pay.
As certain as Grace is about these facts, nobody else believes her — so there’s no one she can completely trust. Not her grandfather, a powerful ambassador. Not her new friends, who all live on Embassy Row. Not Alexei, the Russian boy next door, who is keeping his eye on Grace for reasons she neither likes nor understands.

Everybody wants Grace to put on a pretty dress and a pretty smile, blocking out all her unpretty thoughts. But they can’t control Grace — no more than Grace can control what she knows or what she needs to do. Her past has come back to hunt her . . . and if she doesn’t stop it, Grace isn’t the only one who will get hurt. Because on Embassy Row, the countries of the world stand like dominoes, and one wrong move can make them all fall down.

To be honest I thought that this book was amazing! Right from the first page you can tell that it was going to be an interesting book. Grace is portrayed as having an obsession to find the man who killed her mother, whilst it seems everyone else is certain that the secrets he contains must stay hidden. Armed with a team of intelligent and witty friends, she embarks on a dangerous journey through Embassy Row, trying to find the man who killed her mother. But what Grace finds instead will leave you scrambling for the second book, ‘See How They Run’. Overall I would recommend this book for ages twelve and up and I would place it in the Mystery and Action genres.

I give this book 4 stars. You can buy ‘All Fall Down’ here at Dymocks Online Bookstore:
